Christine Mona Khademi

Christine Mona Khademi (1989-2013) graduated from Stanford with a B.S. in biology with honors in 2012. She was a brilliant young scholar, was inclusive and loving, and appreciated and valued people—particularly those who brought different perspectives to the conversation. In her life, art, views, discussions, writings, and humor, she would often see and discover what was new, original, and wasn’t often seen by the rest of us. From an early age, Christine dared to dream of a world that embraced equal rights and peace, and hoped to work for a world that honored the diversity of all people. She sought to heal people—physically and psychologically—and aspired to be a doctor. She would tell others to ‘have the courage to follow their dreams, no matter how hard—do the work, be tenacious. If you fail, dust yourself off and keep going. Adapt and pivot, but most importantly, make those a reality in a caring way.’
Christine’s life was precious, yet short. The Khademi family is supporting this fund in her memory and to pass the baton. They would like to, in a small way, inspire others to pursue similar dreams—as she would have loved to do. As her father Monib often says, “the Spirit cares that there be flying, not who flies.”
Monib Khademi earned his B.S. from MIT in 1969 and founded the first computer science college in Tehran, Iran in 1973. He earned his MBA from Stanford in 1990 and is the parent of three Stanford graduates. Monib is the founder of Cypress Praxis and has been managing it since 1992.
