Solidarity with Iranian Women

We have heard from many concerned faculty, students, staff, and community members in Iranian Studies about the events unfolding in Iran. We, the program’s leaders as well as concerned students and staff, stand in solidarity with the women of Iran and support their struggle for freedom, human rights, and dignity. We strongly condemn any use of violence against those calling for basic human rights for all Iranians.

We will continue our work of focusing on the voices of Iranians who fight for a better future—in particular, the remarkable women who have endured much and yet continue their fight for equality and justice.

The Moghadam Program in Iranian Studies has hosted discussions about the women’s movement in Iran since its founding and these discussions continue to be an essential part of the program. The program has hosted speakers with diverse backgrounds and experiences that help provide context for the ongoing struggle for women's rights in Iran. Past speakers include Simin BehbahaniZiba Mir-HossainiFarzaneh MilaniShahrnush ParsipurMahshid Amirshahy, Masih Alinejad, Homa Sarshar, and Mehgrangiz Kar, among many others.
