Armita Hosseini

Armita is a third-year student majoring in Economics and double minoring in Computer Science and Iranian Studies. Growing up between Iran and Canada, she has always felt a strong connection to Iranian culture and history. The Iranian Studies program has enabled her to delve further into these interests, studying everything from Iranian cinema and politics to cuisine and ancient history. Her favourite experience has been taking classes by Dr. Abbas Milani, whose knowledge and dedication to Iran have further inspired her passion for studying the country’s past and present. Throughout her time at Stanford, Armita is eager to continue expanding her knowledge of Iran's rich history and its contributions to modern-day society.

Outside of Iranian Studies, Armita is a research assistant at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, where she works with Professor Annamaria Lusardi on improving access to financial education. Previously, she was a research assistant at Stanford’s Bill Lane Center, where she investigated delays in electric vehicle charging station permits in California. She has also published two books on personal finance and economics, founded an organization empowering youth through personal finance, economics, and entrepreneurship, and has been featured in Forbes Magazine twice for her work.
