Sina Javidan-Nejad (2017)
Sina graduated in 2017 with a B.A. in Political Science.
Sina, who plans to work at Dropbox after graduation and eventually apply to law school, also completed a minor in global studies with a concentration on Iran.
Sina chose to pursue a Global Studies Minor in Iranian studies because he wanted to better understand Iran’s geopolitical importance in the Middle East. “I wish to utilize my undergraduate studies in Political Science and Iranian Studies in order to hopefully contribute towards efforts that bring Iran back into the international community,” Sina said.
His favorite part of the program was studying the Persian language, particularly being able to read news articles, governmental papers, poetry, and various types of literature.
When asked what he’s most proud of over the course of his time at Stanford, Sina said: “I'm most proud of having the opportunity to meet such intelligent, passionate, and hardworking individuals over the course of my undergraduate studies. What makes Stanford amazing is the people.”
After completing the minor, Sina says he has a better understanding of Iran’s geopolitics and also of the country’s culture, traditions, and language.
“This is an absolutely amazing program filled with brilliant, approachable, and passionate individuals who are dedicated to helping the students with their academic pursuits pertaining to Iran,” he said. “It was an honor to have the opportunity to study under Professors Abbas Milani, Shervin Emami, and Bahram Behyzaie. Also, the program coordinator, Roma Parhad, is extremely friendly and approachable with helping students coordinate their Iranian Studies academic plan. Fantastic experience!”
Congratulations Sina, and best of luck in your future endeavors!
