The mission of the Stanford Festival of Iranian Arts is to bring to Stanford the best of Iranian art and letters, and ensure that prejudice based on politics, gender, ethnicity, and religious rancor can play no role in silencing these cultural gems. The Festival sponsors lectures, conferences, and performances on Iranian art, poetry, theater, fiction, cinema, and music. Themes include Iranian mythology, cinema, literature, theater, and music. The Festival has helped stage some of Iran’s masterpieces of theater and music—conducted by masters of their domain such as playwright Bahram Beyzaie and musician Mohammad Reza Shajarian.
This initiative is made possible with the generous support of Bita Daryabari, Shidan and Mehran Taslimi, and Hamid and Christina Moghadam, among others.
