Certificate in Iranian Studies

The Iranian Studies Certificate is available to all Stanford undergraduate and graduate students from any major.

Requirements: 

  1. 25 units of Iran-related courses. 15 units must be from the list of core courses. The remaining 10 units can be chosen from the list of approved elective courses.

  2. One area-specific entry course that deals with Iran and the Middle East. 

  3. Completion of two introductory courses in Persian language (or proven proficiency). Maximum of three quarters of language study can be counted towards 25 unit requirement. 

Students may double-count courses applied toward their major or additional studies.
