Ramin Sarraf

Dr. Ramin Sarraf is an assistant Professor and former Lead Faculty for the Persian Studies Program at National University in La Jolla, CA. He received his PhD in 2008 from The University of Texas at Austin in Persian Studies and Linguistics. His PhD dissertation was on Lexicography and Persian Slang. During his studies at UT Austin, he was the recipient of research grants from Middle Eastern Studies Department, Center for Middle Eastern Studies, and Linguistics Department. From 2002 to 2004, he worked as Persian language Curriculum Designer and Course Developer at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Dr. Sarraf has two Master’s degrees, one in Linguistics and another in Persian Studies. In addition, Dr. Sarraf is an experienced Subject Matter Expert, Degree Plan Developer and Course Developer, having completed such projects for the National University. He continues to be involved in course creation and instruction in the following fields related to the Middle East: Literature, History, Culture, Religion and Society. He has been a co-recipient of three Grants by National Foreign Language Center, at the University of Maryland for the successful Startalk Persian Summer Programs offered in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
